손문일은 한국에서 태어나 한국과 중국을 기반으로 활동하는 예술가이다. 손문일은 어려서부터 예술가 아버지의 영향에 의해 미술 공부를 시작하였고 서울대학교 동양화과를 졸업(2000~2005년)하였다. 그 후 2008년에 중국으로 건너가 베이징 GONG 아트 레지던스에서 작품 활동을 하면서 2009년에 중국 북경 중앙미술학원 벽화과 대학원에 입학했다. 2010년에 중국 공 아트 갤러리에서 첫번째 개인전을 개최하였다. 2012년에 대학원을 졸업과 동시에 중앙미술학원 미술관에 작품이 소장되었고 중국과 한국을 오가며 자신의 작품 활동을 계속하는 중이다.

 

그의 작품은 대상에 대한 본질의 물음에서 출발한다. 손문일 작가는 “바라보고 해석하는” 대상으로서가 아닌, 오롯이 존재하는 물질을 그대로 표현해 내고자 2009년부터 본격적으로 작업에 오브제를 사용하기 시작했다.  또한 손문일은 시각이 주는 착시 현상을 토대로 빛과 형태를 가지고 조형물을 만들기도 하였으며 2014년에는 전시 공간의 바닥, 벽, 천정이 지닌 직선적인 요소에 대하여 화두를 던지는 작업을 진행하고 있다.

 

 

 

 

MUN IL, SON

 

Born in South Korea, Son is a China and Korea based artist. He started his art training and practicing when he was in middle school. He spent five years (2000-2005) study art in Seoul National University College of Fine Arts. He made his first trip to China in 2008 and stayed in CHINA GONG Art Gallery and Artist Residence. He was admitted to Master Paintings in 2009, Central Academy of Fine Arts. He held two solo exhibitions, the first at China Gong Art Gallery in 2010, second exhibition at Korea Gong Art Gallery in 2011 . His will be graduating in July 2012 from Central Academy of Fine Arts Mural Painting. He plans to travel between China and South Korea to continue his work activities.His work focus is THE ESSENCE. His early work was in accordance with such a concept of realism based on the actual work was faithful to the visual look. For example, when drawing a person wearing a suit, the suit fabric can be used as one of the material. Thus, cut the actual shape of the target at 1:1 ratio in the form of plywood, then cloth is flattened and attached to the plywood. Highlights and shadows were then airbrushed on to the fabric. Silk cloth can be also used as working material to create a glossy effect on the works.

서울대 미술대학에서 동양화를 전공하고 북경 중앙미술대학원 벽화과를 졸업하였으며 중앙대에서 예술학을 수료하였다. 다루는 재료와 작가 본인의 관계에 대한 사색을 즐기며 이를 통한 다양한 방식의 작업을 꾸준히 시도하고 있다. 서울과 북경, 베니스 등에서 총 10회의 개인전을 가졌다. 북경 중앙미술관, 한국 성곡미술관 코리안 투마로우, 암웨이 미술관 개관전, 이화여대 복식 미술관등의 단체전과 다수의 해외 전시에 초대 되었다. 현재 장흥 가나 아뜰리에 레지던시에 입주 중이며 서울대와 건국대 강사로 출강중이다.
